While the original start of the Trails Edge Subdivision was in 2003, it had a second start in 2014. On November 17th, 2013 a tornado ripped through the heart of Washington and destroyed many homes in the Trails Edge Subdivision and neighboring Devonshire and Washington Estates Subdivisions.

Path of the tornado, Nov 2013.

There were over 500 homes destroyed and just about as many damaged in one form or another. The Central Illinois community, as well as many communities throughout the state of Illinois, came together with an outpouring of help and resources. You cannot find anyone anywhere that doesn't believe these affected areas best days are lay ahead. Trails Edge was a popular spot before this happened and it certainly is now. There are many, ourselves included, who feel that the sense of community and of being a helpful neighbor will be the ties that bind this and other subdivisions together moving forward. So while the neighborhood may have started in 2003, we are seeing a rebirth 10 years later that will showcase many new homes being built on the same spot they were built previously.

The home values in Trails Edge ranged from about $200K to $330K prior to the tornado. Because of the cost of building increases over the last 10 years as well as the increased energy codes required on new homes, this value will probably reflect a little higher values post tornado construction.

The Trails Edge subdivision has a popular park within the middle of it which is a big draw, as well as the number of new constructions and newer homes to choose from. The city of Washington has done a good job with planning sidewalks and biking paths that lead from this subdivision to the 5 Points Community Center and the schools. The subdivision is located south of Route 24. It's easy to get to off of Cummings Lane or Dallas Road and turning onto Kingsbury Road.
